Hand Sanitizers Warning by FDA
As a preventive measure for COVID-19, it was suggested by many to use the hand sanitizers. The mushrooming of different brands of hand sanitizers with variable composition of alcohol content was witnessed. However quite a good number of hand sanitizers lead to lethal effects in number of people across the world. In this connection in the recent past, FDA has banned dozens of hand sanitizers with toxic ingredients.
On August 27. 2020 the US FDA warned the consumers on such alcohol-based hand sanitizers which have been packed in containers look alike for food and other beverages. As such the more concentration of alcohol in hand sanitizers when applied topically resulting in untoward effects. As per the instruction by FDA, the packaging of hand sanitizers in the misleading containers may result in consumer confusion and thus few consumers may have it orally thinking that it as a beverage or food material that leads to fatality.
Caution to be observed while using hand sanitizers especially in children and elderly as well the sensitive population.
